Obvious Child Labor

When will senators and all officials become less political & more of servant leaders?

The NSO's 2011 Survey on Children, released on Tuesday, June 25, showed there are now 5.6 million working Filipino children, 37% more than the 4 million registered in 2001, when the study was last conducted.

Almost 3 million kids aged 5-17 years old are reported to be in hazardous working conditions, defined by the International Labor Organization as "being likely to harm the children's health, safety or morals by the nature or circumstances of the work."

Funny because we can't see any government official working on it when they see the obvious.

You see, in the busy streets of Manila alone, everyone can see the obvious.

But, Is anybody out their doing something?

Change should come from the smallest unit. Starting from the family, to the baranggay, up to the highest government official.

However, officials who doesn't care about what's going on in their environment I think they should be liable too.

When they see the obvious, wala silang pakialam dahil una, wala naman reklamo.

Burn those government officials!

And to think government is planning on moving to UP Diliman. Geez, maganda yan Para may makita tayong action. Student protest and activism is waiting.

Again,

When will senators and all officials become less political & more of servant leaders?

Goodbye Lola Dwarda.. :(

Dear Lola Dwarda,

I always taught you as a strong woman. From stories handed from your children to our generation and the next, I have never met anyone as strong and courageous as you in my entire life. The manner you handled matters made me wonder how you manage to do such.

You don’t know part of yourself but you manage to raise my mom and her siblings. You managed to be strong and tough.

I’m not sure that you know just how much you’ve meant to me and how much I love you. You always scold me but every time you do that I know you are always by my side.

You were one of the strongest people I know. You have dealt with much emotional and physical pain over the years, yet you never wanted to be a bother to anyone. This I think was part stubbornness, which I got from you, and part selflessness.

Some of my most vivid childhood memories are of times spent with you. The time you won’t allow me to go to school because the sun is not yet up though I’m already late, my science project which made my Grade 3 teacher astonished because it was you who made it, and I remember getting an A+ on that – that was the onion project- and the times that you dig up the lower part of the house in Philex at the time of its construction which is why instead of a little bungalow, we enjoyed a 2 storey house in its place. I always laugh every instance I remember that.

Lola, you were always trying to give me something, money, food, advice, but you've given me much more than you know. You’ve given me someone who I know I can trust; someone who always loves me no matter what, someone who was always proud of me. You gave me mom and you gave me part of myself.

I am proud of you, lola, for being the person you were. For being strong, for being the head of our family for so long, and for making me laugh. You may seem inconsiderate and too strict at times but those are the memories that me and my cousins lived by.

Though I prayed for a better health for you, God answered my prayer by hugging you in His arms for the better. Just like what He did to mom.

Thank you for all the beautiful memories. Thank you for being part of my existence. I love you and I will miss you.

Laughter is the Best Medicine.

Home Along the Riles, Johnny and Marsha, Home Along the River, Home Along the Airport, Idol si Pidol Dobol Trobol and the most recent Father Jejemon are some movies and television shows which marks the signature from the Philippine Comedy King Dolphy.

Though age withers, his works and people's memory of him will remain positive. He's always remembered as the man who brought laughter to household. He's always remembered as the person who doesn't overdo things but still leaves a smile to the audience.

For all those laughter and smiles, I can't ask for more.

He taught us that laughter is the best medicine.

Whatever God's plans are for you, I would like to thank Him for giving us such a wonderful person to live with.

We all hope for the better.

Battle Of The Tablets

More than 2000 years ago,
The 10 Commandments was first published through tablets. Its content and its teaching still exists up to this date.
Earlier today, Microsoft unveils its Surface. So after
Apple's iPad,
Samsung's Galaxy tab,
Android tablets
and infamous Archos tablet, which really didn't make money from the market,
now comes MS Surface in a 3mm keyboard running on Windows 8.

Who do you think will survive as the fittest and who will be eliminated as the unfit?

Breaking Nina's Silence

Nina's silence was broken by her unusual song through Playboy pages...

There is still another  cover but I was not able to get it.

TYPHOONS!

IT’S THAT TIME of the year again. Typhoons, floods, landslides, and of course, road repairs. To guide the public, the Philippine Atmospheric Geopolitical and Astronomical Services Administration released the list of “new” typhoons. Everyone is expected to take all precautionary measures to prevent loss of lives and property. You’ve been warned!
Bagyong Koko
Nauna siyang pumasok sa Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Bagyong Lito Lapid
Magdamag na pinaghahandaan dahil sa inaasahang pananalanta. Walang nangyaring gano’n. Konting ulan, konting hangin, konting kulog at kidlat.
Bagyong Sharon
Masyadong moody ang bagyong ito. Good luck sa mga dadaanang lugar.

A Memory That Hurts Too Bad

June 17, 201 is celebrated as Father's Day. A special day intended for dad's making it special for them by citing things that they achieved and marks the day when that special man stood up to build a family. A day usually celebrated by greeting and gift giving with a great big hug and a kiss from dad.

The scene's still vivid. It has not surpassed the years to come to fade.

It was Wednesday night, nearly midnight when mom came up to my room and asked me to sleep beside my 11 month old brother. I was 13 years old back then. Around 1AM, I woke up mixing milk for my brother who cried out in the middle of the night. Then, I have no idea where my mom was at that time. I have no idea where my parents are. All I know is that I have to get my brother back to sleep since I have to set off school early that day.

I took a peek at my other brother's room and both are sleeping soundly except for the youngest whom I was dancing to put to sleep.

Around 7 AM that day, soon as I was getting ready for school, my mind's debating if I will go to school or to stay and be absent that day since no one will be left to take care of my youngest brother.

Soon, two of my aunts came knocking at our door telling us not to leave for school but instead there's somewhere else we should go. One of them took my brother from me and told me to change from my school uniform.

I did immediately as I was told so as my brother who is four years younger than me.

We quickly finished breakfast and off we go to ... I have no idea..

We arrived at the hospital, and went down to the morgue. There goes my mom, no sleep, swollen eyes and my dad laid on a metal bed.

This scene never left.
The memory and the pain inflicted stayed as well.

Should he still be here, life would be totally different.

I miss you mom and dad. Happy Father's Day.

Dear Ninong Erap

The time that Senator Koko Pimentel announced that he cannot run with Miguel Zubiri under the same party shocked me. First, I though of them as friends. Secondly, I was not aware that Miguel Zubiri was already with United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

Clearly, Pimentel has not moved on with the result of the election where he states that Zubiri was the biggest benificiary of electoral fraud. True as it may seem, I still look-up to Zubiri the moment he gave up his term the time that the result of such election was clear enough. He humbled himself, stepped down and let Pimentel take over.

Zubiri’s action itelf calls for applause and in my own opinion, though he is called the biggest benificiary, he still lived with his principles and gave up the position for the rightful one.

According to Pimentel, he cannot run with Zubiri.
I find it hard to believe that both of them, are not on the same boat thinking both of them are victims of political cheats. The arrow points back to Gloria Arroyo who manipulated everything.

Their agendas are different and two of them being in one party may cause the team to be divided.

Forgiveness was obvious unfortunately, not everyone forgets.

My take is, If Erap will be asked to run with Gloria Arroyo in one party, would he agree?

Happy Independence Day... or Is It?

June 12, 2012 marks the 114th year of Philippine Independence Day.  It's an annual reminder of the day Emilio Aguinaldo proclaim the Philippine's independence from Spain.
Image
Aside from double-pay, less people along Ayala Avenue, less jeepneys and being a holiday, a flag positioned on a pedestal inside the office were few reminders of such occasion.
I remember my elementary and high school days that aside from the common "no classes", a parade along the street followed by some program activity takes place at the plaza. I missed those activities wherein different areas, division and sector from the community performs simultaneously.
As years past, the tradition faded. Or maybe not. Maybe I was not as active as before. I miss the times  when Happy Independence Day is uttered, it is a time to relax and have fun enjoying the day which marked the end-sacrifice of our national heroes.
And I thank you Google for celebrating with us!
Image
I pray that the next Independence Day will be liberation from country's corrupt bureaucrats, unnecessary impeachment of public officials, and  from POVERTY!
